Current Events Day TWO

Howdy, ya'll! (How's that for a SE Kansas Greeting?)

Today I want you to start thinking about your first major research project. You are each going to take the role as the Director of Tourism and Travel for 3 states. You are going to have to make a sales pitch to me.

Here is the scenario:
I am a multi-billionaire investor who wants to build a theme park, football stadium, and the world's largest museum complex. I only want to do it in one state. I have no idea where I want to have it built. I am willing to listen to representatives from different states. I do know that I don't want to build it in Florida, New York, California, or Hawaii, because there are already tons of things there.

You must choose two states. You will create a five to 10 minute sales pitch as a representative of each of those states. You should use pictures, handouts, powerpoints, whatever you have at your disposal.

How do you find all this stuff?

1. You must contact the department of travel and tourism for each state that you choose. You will find these easily online. You should ask them to send you information about their state.

2. You will have to present ideas to me about what cities would be the ideal situations, their location, stuff to do in the area besides visiting my totally sweet museums, etc....

3. You must create a football logo, helmet design, and team name for my new football team that I want to create, and sell me on the best design.

4. Hopefully, all your presentations will be judged independently by other teachers. The winning choice will be picked by me with their assistance.

You will each present once, then present again later as we go through in order.

The more you put into this, the more you get out of it.

Have a great day!
